About the Farm
For twenty years, Palmilera, a 15 hectare coffee farm located in San Lorenzo, Costa Rica, has been owned and operated by the Sánchez family. Didier and Pablo are the brothers behind this coffee. They credit the quality of their coffee to their hard work, technology and constant desire to improve processes on their farm.
Costa Rica Geisha (or Gesha)
Geisha is a variety of the Arabica Coffee plant first discovered in Ethiopia. It currently grows in most of the main coffee growing areas of the world. It has a taste profile that is sweeter than other coffees and is floral, lightly fruity, bright and tea like.
Geisha coffee has become the most desired and expensive coffee in the world, sometimes selling for more than $1000 per pound at auction. It is a larger coffee tree, has a lower yield, and is more susceptible to disease. These factors contribute to the scarcity of the coffee it produces and the high demand for it causes the price to escalate to never seen levels.
